Homemade Ginger Ale Recipe

Ginger Ale Recipe

Ingredients:

2 inch piece ginger peeled and grated

1 cup water plus enough to fill bottles at end

9-10 tablespoons sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt

5 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice

3-4 tablespoons fresh squeezed lime juice or orange juice

1/8 teaspoon dry champagne yeast

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in bowl except yeast.

Let stand 5 minutes to allow flavors to blend.

Taste for desired sweetness. Add more sugar or citrus juices as needed.

Pour mixture into 2 liter soda container (they are designed to handle carbonation and the pressure it builds!).

Add yeast, close lid tightly and shake to mix yeast in. Feel free to dance around while shaking it up!

Set aside on the counter (not the fridge yet) until bottle feels very hard usually about a day or two. It may take less time depending on how hot it is.

Put in refrigerator for at least one day.

When pouring, use a strainer to catch the ginger bits unless you like a chewy beverage!

Enjoy!
